Jamie wants to be successful as a DJ in London. With little in way of money and no family support he accepts the first lodgings he finds, owned by the Eccentric Will Hare and the authoritarian Will Burke. A look into obsession, control and the reality of lost dreams, ‘The Last Tenant’ examines the concept of aspirations and how one man’s freedom is another’s imprisonment.

About Cracked Films:

Cracked Films is an international collective of digital filmmakers pooling their resources and talents to create a diverse body of work. Its goals are firmly placed in exploring and exploiting the new forms of production, distribution and exhibition made possible through advances in technology and mass communications.

We aim to find an audience based on word of mouth recommendations, free distribution and exhibition via DVD, underground screenings and especially Bit-torrents.

With its headquarters based in the less trendy parts of East London, Cracked Films produces work that aims to be expressive and reflective of its authors and their experiences.

@12:43Very interesting. I found this while investigating the impact that these two historical figures have had in the modern media. Your take was one of the best I have seen so far. =)

@12:43Hey Thanks for the comment.

Yeah Burke and Hare were some very strange characters though I must admit I did use quite a large amount of creative liscence, lol

Cheers for watching

@12:43You’re welcome. =)
I’m still trying to figure some things out. Are they unhappy because they want to travel but can’t for some reason?

@12:43Hey there.

Yeah thats kind of it. Basically Hare wants to travel (in an attempt to escape the cycle of murder) but Burke does not allow them to do so and so the closest Hare gets to traveling is the objects d'art in the flat (presumably taken from previous victims). To be honest I fell foul of what many fist time writer/directors do and didn't really externalise the story to its full extent. It's easy to think things are obvious when in fact, to the viewer, things are hidden deep within the writing cycle. A learning curb though and one that taught me a lesson or two :-D

@12:43Ah, I see. =)
Very interesting idea. I think it fits well with what I have read about Burke supposedly being the mastermind behind the murders. It puts Hare in a sort of sympathetic light, though obviously he was a nasty piece of work too.

@12:43Indeed he was though the doctor that they used to get the bodies for got away with being an accesory to the crimes and continued to practice after the fact. Alas I didn't have time to add him as a charcter but I'd of liked to.
